Hey friends,
I hope you’ve all been enjoying the cooler weather — fall is here, and with it comes some of the best fishing of the year. October is a great time to be on the water, especially with NC Wildlife starting their stocking program. The bite is turning on, and I’d love to get you out for a trip soon!
For those new to it, Tenkara is:
A simple and effective Japanese style of fly fishing (just a rod, line, and fly — no reel).
Minimal gear, perfect for small streams and mountain waters.
Easy for beginners to pick up, but still packed with nuance for more experienced anglers.
We’ve got some fun things coming up:
🎣 Western Carolina Tenkara Campout — October 3–5 at Davidson River Campground in Brevard, NC. We’ll have a free gear exchange, and Robert Worthing and I will each be giving short presentations.
🌊 Haywood Waterways “Big Sweep” River Cleanup — September 13 at four different local locations. Check out their Instagram @haywoodwaterways for details and ways to help.
And of course, I’m still running private water trips for those who want to escape the crowds and chase some trophy trout. Half-day and full-day options are available — you can reach me by phone, email, or just book directly on my site: www.fixedlineappalachia.com.
Tight lines,
Ben Colonnese
