Meet Ben — The Owner and Guide Behind Fixed Line Appalachia
Based near Asheville, I offer guided Tenkara and fixed-line fishing trips throughout Western North Carolina. This business is my passion, built around exploring mountain streams and sharing the places and fish that make Appalachia special.
I love the simplicity of fixed-line fishing—a rod, a line, and a fly—but also how much it gives you to discover. Reading a current, finding a hidden trout, or making a small adjustment to your cast keeps every day on the water interesting.
Your Day on the Water
Whether you’re picking up a rod for the first time or you’ve fished for years, I tailor each trip to your interests and comfort level. My approach is patient and hands-on, with all fishing gear provided. We’ll practice casting, reading water, and presenting a fly, with plenty of time to enjoy the surroundings.
We might chase wild trout in a mountain stream or discover colorful native species on a microfishing adventure. Either way, there’s always something worth taking a closer look at.
Care for the Water & the Craft
Respect for these waters shapes how I guide, from checking water temperatures to handling fish carefully and leaving no trace. I also make nets, packs, and fishing tools—bringing my love of craftsmanship into the experiences I share.
My goal is simple: send you home with more confidence, good stories, and a deeper appreciation for these mountains.
